It began in 1974

when I, Barbara Neebel Meier, read the book, Autobiography of a Yogi about Paramahansa Yogananda. The book opened my awareness to a totally unfamiliar world of expanded consciousness which caught my keen interest and curiosity. A few years later I met people from Maharishi University in Fairfield, Iowa, who introduced me to the Ayurvedic method of “reading the pulse” used to assess and diagnose illnesses. this was so amazing to me! I was a Respiratory Therapist at the time and was amazed and intrigued when one of the same people shared with me how she had healed her severe, environmentally induced asthma, utilizing the healing knowledge and therapies of Ayurveda, and without the use of Western medications such as steroids and bronchodilators.

My story goes on with multiple dips into Ayurveda until life finally took me to the point where I could deeply immerse myself in the study of Ayurveda and the practice of Marma Therapy. I have studied with multiple schools and teachers including; New World Ayurveda and Dr. Paul Dugliss; Ayurvedic Institute and Dr. Vasant Lad; California College of Ayurveda; Lifespa and Dr. John Doulliard; Floracopeia and David Crow; Vaidya Mishra and Chandika; and Maharishi University. I eventually became an Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner and taught basic principles of Ayurveda and Marma Therapy at the school I founded, known as Windemere Institute of Healing Arts. I am now honored to offer Marma Therapy to you as a support to your own wellness.
